Diana Fiske

Since 2007, Diana Fiske has organized a round robin tennis tournament at Fishers Island’s Hay Harbor Club to raise money for Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. “Pretty much everyone I know has a parent or friend who has been afflicted with Alzheimer’s,” says Fiske.

Hay Harbor Club member Alison McCance was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2004, and Fiske learned about Cure Alzheimer’s Fund through Alison’s husband, Henry McCance, a co-founder of the organization where “every single penny goes directly toward finding a cure.”

Fiske rallied a group of women to support the cause, and every July they fill all 11 courts, playing to raise money for a cure—starting with the $25 entry fee. Every uttered “sorry” during a game costs $1 and expletives cost $10 each.

At the start of the tournament Fiske reminds everyone why they’re there—to raise money for Alzheimer’s research. “Over the years, a remarkable 125 women have participated, and we’ve donated more than $23,000 to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. It’s been a real team effort, from our pro, Ramsey Hoehn, donating his time and tennis balls, to the club providing the courts and refreshments. It’s a lot of fun, too,” says Fiske.
