Our Heroes

Cure Alzheimer's Fund has raised over $50 million for Alzheimer's disease research — and we couldn't have done it without the support of amazing individuals like the ones featured here. Our Heroes are fundraising for us all over the globe by organizing everything from races to tournaments to concerts to benefit Cure Alzheimer's Fund.

Joe Kowalski

Joe Kowalski, 21, is a YouTuber, writer, actor and indie filmmaker from the Cleveland area. “Every time I make a film and have a local premiere, we give people the option to donate to a specific charity,” explained Joe. This year he selected Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. “I love the good work the organization does and that 100 percent of donations goes directly to research. One of the characters in our newest film—“Prism”—has a form of dementia, so we thought it would be a nice tie-in,” he said.

Amber Kostka

As many of you know, Alzheimer's Disease is something close to me and my family. We lost my grandmother in 2015, but she had been diganosed with the disease for over 10 years before she died.

Michael Kintzer

Hi!  I have decided to raise money to help fight Alzheimer’s disease.  Alzheimer’s is a progressive brain disease that causes problems with memory, reasoning, behavior and motor skills.  The disease is ultimately fatal.  In May 2015, my Poppy Howie died from this disease and for the past 2 years my Grandpa Jerry has been struggling daily with memory loss and every day activities.  So for me, Alzheimer’s disease has had a big impact on my life.

Steve Kaneko

Steve Kaneko, age 52 of Seattle, partner design director at Microsoft, won a Technical Recognition Award. After researching several charities, Steve chose to donate $31,500 of his award to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.

Charline Kim

When Charline Kim of Los Angeles turned 27 on Feb. 28, 2014, she asked her friends to make a donation to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund to support her grandma, who has the disease.
