Lynn Sutherland

Lynn B. Sutherland (née Becken), 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, May 29, 2016 surrounded by her loving family after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.  Born on June 22, 1942, Lynn was the daughter of Eugene and Muriel Becken.  She was a long time resident of Woodstock, New York, where she raised three children with her husband Donald J. Sutherland.  Lynn and her husband moved to Port Ewen thirteen years ago, and she most recently has been a resident at the Golden Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kingston, NY.  

Lynn is survived by her loving husband Donald J. Sutherland, brother Richard Becken (Elizabeth) of Brownsville, VT, children Kate Sutherland (James Moore) of Brooklyn NY, Laura Sutherland (Amy Pastva) of Durham, NC, and Daniel Sutherland (Krislyn) of Pompton Plains, NJ, and grandchildren Ethan Sutherland, Brandon Sutherland, and Carter Moore.

Lynn dedicated her time to enhancing the lives of others through her volunteerism, and vocation.  Lynn was a long-standing active member of the local community through her involvement with Meals-on-Wheels, Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, the food pantry, the Overlook Methodist Church and the Town of Esopus United Methodist Church.   Vocationally, Lynn was a compassionate teaching assistant for BOCES, who contributed to the daily well-being and development of her students.  Lynn’s work in these areas illustrated her generous spirit and selfless approach toward service and life.
