We propose a series of studies to rationally select candidate monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) that bind and neutralize transmissible misfolded tau species, with confirmatory testing of selected mAbs in a mouse model of pathological tau transmission. One or more selected mAbs will subsequently be tested in the established PS19 tau transgenic (Tg) mouse model12, which develops forebrain tau inclusions, neuron loss and cognitive deficits13, to determine whether passive immunization results in an attenuation of tau‐mediated neuropathology.
