Mary Wellman

I Remember Mary’s eyes, a shade of green akin to the most precious jade. When Mary looked at you it was clear you were the entire focus of her being. She drew you in. I fell into them on the night we met and spent 54 years gazing into them with wonder. Often Mary’s eyes were accompanied by a 10,000-lumen smile and a giggle or full-throated laugh. At other times they conveyed warmth, love, anger and myriad other emotions. As time went on, I used her eyes as a barometer. Now, approaching the second anniversary of Mary’s death, I remember her eyes to center myself. They’re an anchor and a reminder that love exists and I can continue to thrive. Mary’s beautiful spirit inspires me to support Cure Alzheimer’s Fund through my retirement fund and my estate plans, so others do not have to suffer the loss of their beloved far too early in life.

Aleha hashalom. Zekher tzaddik livrakhah.
(May peace be upon her. May the memory of the righteous be a blessing.)
