Position Overview

The Staff Accountant manages the bulk of the accounting transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and general ledger. The Staff Accountant’s responsibilities also include independent work such as processing payroll, recording stock gifts and other ad hoc projects as needed. The Staff Accountant will be a key contributor/documenter of both policies and procedures for the group.


Responsibilities

  • Own the A/P function by vouchering invoices, categorizing expenses, and obtaining proper approvals for all A/P transactions in Bill.com.
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of A/P and A/R information including monthly reconciliations to control accounts.
  • Complete month close work and reconciliations.
  • Devise and process data imports/exports in QBO, including Amex, payroll, and budget reporting. 
  • Record G/L transactions including stock gifts.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll working with our PEO partner as well as perform other HR tasks when needed.
  • Make recommendations for continual process improvements and ensure that procedures are properly documented. 
  • Cross-train and provide vacation backup for teammates, including A/P, A/R, and month close tasks.
  • Support to Controller/ CFO as needed with accounting, auditing, and tax matters. 
  • Contribute to other departmental work in the Finance and Administration group, including supporting other groups. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required

  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and/or other accounting systems.
  • Mastery of common computer skills including hardware and use of Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • General ledger experience.
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks, be flexible, maintain a good sense of humor, and contribute to a team environment.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 3-5 years working as an accounting professional in private, ideally not-for-profit, accounting.

Cure Alzheimer’s Fund’s physical offices are in Wellesley Hills, MA. Due to Covid nearly all employees are currently working entirely remotely. Once Covid protocols are no longer necessary, work models for employees will vary from onsite to hybrid, depending on the combined needs of the employee and the organization.
