Terry Donoghue

Terry Donoghue, proud owner of a small share of the race horse Authentic, the winner of the 2020 Kentucky Derby, Breeder’s Cup Classic, and 2020 American Horse of the Year, has supported Alzheimer’s research through Marge’s Strive for a Cure, a fundraising campaign he started in honor of his wife of 52 years who passed away from Alzheimer’s in August 2020.

Terry and Marge Donoghue married on January 13, 1968.  Little did they know that in their vows, “in sickness and in health…” that would include Alzheimer’s disease.  Terry became a Minion in the fight against Alzheimer’s after Marge’s diagnosis 45 years later.  After her passing in August of 2020, Terry surpassed his fundraising goal and continued the fight.

Terry Donoghue passed away peacefully on October 12, 2022, surrounded by his loving family due to complications of Parkinson’s disease, which often took a backseat to being a caregiver to Marge and managing her Alzheimer’s.  Terry was an agent for Allstate Insurance for over 29 years.  He enjoyed playing golf, anything to do with horse racing and spending time with his grandkids. His main role later in life was caregiver.  He leaves behind their children, Karen (Matt) Hyman and Tracy (Brian) King, along with his grandchildren, Kaela and Luci King.

His family is continuing his fight to support Alzheimer’s research.  Per his words, “I’m proud to support Cure Alzheimer’s Fund knowing 100% of every dollar I raise is going directly to fund Alzheimer’s research that is bringing us closer to a cure”, we know that this is his purpose both in his life and in his death.
