Jaime Grutzendler, M.D.

Dr. Grutzendler’s laboratory is focused on understanding brain function and the cellular basis of neurological diseases. His lab develops and implements methodologies for high resolution optical imaging, cell labeling and cell manipulations in vivo, with the goal of improving the understanding of interactions between neuronal and non-neuronal cell types in their native microenvironment. A major goal of the lab is to elucidate how these cell-cell interactions are disrupted in disease states such as in Alzheimer’s disease, ischemia and demyelination with the ultimate goal of designing new therapies for these conditions.
