Three years ago, singer and actress Jonatha Brooke moved her mother, Darren, to New York. Darren was in the mid-stages of Alzheimer’s disease. Jonatha then put her own life and career on hold to care for her mother. “I had no idea what I was getting into,” Jonatha says.
In her new play, “My Mother Has 4 Noses“, Jonatha captures the experiences she shared with Darren during the last years of her life. Their story is at times tragic, but often humorous. “Mom was a character,” Jonatha explains. “In fact, I’ve always thanked her on stage for all the good material.” The New York Times describes the play as “devastating and gorgeous…a poignantly funny, beautifully created narrative.”
Jonatha has raised almost $5,000 for Cure Alzheimer’s Fund with her Pledge Music Project.
