Cure Alzheimer’s Fund is the sole owner of and the only organization that uses the information collected on this site or given to us offline. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others under any circumstances.
Collecting your personal information
We do not collect any personal information about you at our website unless you choose to provide it to us voluntarily. We define personal information as information that personally identifies you or allows us to contact you.
We collect two types of information on our website:
- Web traffic information. This information is used to determine the number of visitors to our site, length of stay, where visitors go on the site, and sources of traffic. We collect aggregate data, not information identifying individual users. Other than the specific instances outlined in this policy, Cure Alzheimer’s Fund does not collect personal information about users or how they use the site.
- Personal information provided by you. We collect email addresses and other personal information only when you provide it to us. If you fill out a form, request information, or make a donation, we may collect your name, address, city, state, zip code, telephone number, email address, or other similar information. This personal information is used to acknowledge receipt of your donation for tax purposes and to include you on Cure Alzheimer’s Fund’s mailing list. We do not disclose, sell, trade, or rent your personal information to any outside parties. All personal information provided to us is maintained in a secure database to facilitate future communication and interaction with you. Strict security standards are in place to ensure the safety of your personal information. Our website uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology to protect the personal information collected through our website. SSL technology enables the encryption or scrambling of personal information. The security is visible when HTTPS is at the beginning of the URL or web address, at the top of each page. We also advise all Cure Alzheimer’s Fund employees about their responsibility to protect personal data and we provide them with appropriate guidelines for adhering to our company’s business ethics standards and confidentiality policies. Data is stored in password-controlled servers with limited access, and used only for legitimate business purposes. For more information on our security standards, please contact us here.
Recently, we received notification of a data breach that occurred with Blackbaud, the external vendor that provides the donation processing software used by non-profits throughout the world, including Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. The breach occurred in May of 2020, and Blackbaud notified their non-profit clients at the end of July.
The incident that resulted in this unauthorized access did not include any of our current data; it pulled an outdated file from prior to 2018, and the records did not include any credit card or other financial information. Please be assured that we do not store any credit card or other financial information from our donors.
Blackbaud is taking measures to prevent future breaches. They have identified the vulnerability in their systems and have taken steps to secure their environment. Blackbaud has also created a webpage to provide information regarding the breach, and you can access that page by going to blackbaud.com/securityincident.
Please be assured that we do everything we can to preserve your privacy and the integrity of the data you supply to us and our third-party vendors.
Cure Alzheimer’s Fund provides a separate online form to join our mailing list. The information we collect includes name, address, email address, and telephone number. This information is securely stored and accessed only when we correspond with our mailing list periodically during the year, either via e-mail or regular mail.
Please contact us directly by regular mail or email if at any time you wish to be removed from the mailing list, or if you would like to correct or change the personal information you have previously provided.
Changes to this policy
We respect your privacy and recognize that you may wish to limit the ways in which we contact you. Simply contact us here with the information you need to change.
