David Shenk and Stefanie Nelson have collaborated to launch The Moving Memory Project, a new festival dedicated to memory and forgetting with a special focus on Alzheimer’s.
The January 2019 event featured a dance piece choreographed by Stefanie called MY NAME IS… which was inspired by her experiences watching family members go through dementia. It also featured a selection of short films from the Living With Alzheimer’s Project, curated by David Shenk and shown at the 2016 and 2017 CureAlz Symposiums. Following the evening performance a panel discussion was held, led by David Shenk and featuring Meredith Wong, manager of CaringKind’s Connect2culture program, and Cure Alzheimer’s President and CEO Tim Armour.
