Howard L. Weiner, M.D.,  is the Robert L. Kroc Professor of Neurology at the Harvard Medical School, Director and Founder of the Partners Multiple Sclerosis Center and Co-Director of the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston which has over 200 scientists and investigates five major brain diseases: Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease and brain tumors. He is the recipient of the NIH Director’s Transformative R01 for the study of the innate immune system in Alzheimer’s disease. He has pioneered the investigation of the mucosal immune system and the gut microbiome in neurologic diseases including MS, Alzheimer’s disease and ALS.
