Ronnie Kay Armentrout, age 75 years, a resident of Whitmer, WV, departed this life Monday afternoon, March 6, 2023 at the Davis Medical Center, Elkins, WV, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Friday, August 15, 1947 at Horton, WV a son of the late Fred B. Armentrout and Evelyn Nelson Armentrout Hedrick. On July 11, 1966, he was married to the former Joyce Ellen White, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Randall Armentrout and wife Deanna of Harman, Steven Armentrout and wife Tammy of Whitmer; one daughter, Dana Bennett and husband Chris of Harman; three grandchildren, Megan Bennett of Elkins, Montana Armentrout of Whitmer, Dakota Bennett of Harman; and two great-grandchildren, Brentley Bland and Braelynn Bennett, both of Harman; three brothers, Monroe Armentrout of Glen Burnie, MD, Junior Hedrick and wife Kathy of Harman, Scott Hedrick and wife Faye of Mountain Lake Park, MD; and one sister, Molly Teter of Hendricks.
Preceding him in death are four brothers, Clinton Nelson, Neil Armentrout, Freddie Armentrout, and Chris Armentrout; and one sister, Dolly Cooper.
Ronnie was a meticulous carpenter who built several homes in Canaan Valley. He enjoyed hunting with his sons, his 1968 Chevy Chevelle, rebuilding old Ford trucks and playing the guitar, fiddle, and mandolin. There was nothing he could not build, fix or repair. He loved bluegrass music and “Pickin and A-grinnin” with his family. Ronnie worked for Reidboard, Malibicki Construction and Snow Country Homes until his retirement. He was a member of the Laborer’s Local # 984 of which he retired after twenty years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 4 to 7 PM, Thursday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home Friday, March 10, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Pastor Robert E. Yothers, Jr. and Pastor James Purnell will officiate and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman, WV.
