My mom passed October 2024…with the holidays upon us mom has been in our thoughts a lot. Mom’s house was always the hub of the holidays from us kids and then our children, friends, family and anyone that entered. Mom loved to cook which was great because we loved to eat. One of many special memories is… my daughter Amanda was around 4 years old when she wanted to help her Granny cook so mom pulled a chair up to the countertop and stood her up in the chair. Mom put one of her aprons on Amanda, which was way too big, but she preceded to wrap and tie until it fit Amanda like it was hers. Amanda looked at her Granny with sparkling eyes. You could see the love and admiration in her eyes and her Granny was looking down at her granddaughter with such love. Amanda’s job was to butter the dinner rolls so from then on that became a holiday tradition. There was such love between those two that carried all through life. We sorely miss mom and my daughter misses her Granny.
