After witnessing her grandmother – Nanamma – slowly begin to lose her memory, Akshaya was left devastated. That feeling of heartbreak soon developed into a passion to contribute to the fight against Alzheimer’s however she could. Inspired by Nanamma’s love of jasmines that she would frequently make malas (garlands) out of, she started Ganji’s Garden, an initiative that has raised over $4,000 through selling primarily jasmine plants & neuroprotective herbs in her community.
The Cure Alzheimer’s Fund’s focus on funding high-impact research resonates with Akshaya’s hope for the development of a cure for the disease, changing the lives of millions of families and individuals across the globe. With each plant sold, she hopes to continue supporting groundbreaking research that may someday change the lives of those like Nanamma and their family.
