Anne Peterson Del Calzo

Anne was born in Buffalo, New York on February 2nd, 1937, the daughter of Dolores and Vernon “Pete” Peterson. A graduate of Terrace Park High School in Terrace Park, Ohio, Anne attended Bowling Green State University (where she met her former husband Nick), and the University of Cincinnati. She was a lifelong member of the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority as were her mother, her sister and her daughter. Anne lovingly raised her two children, Dean and Joy in Littleton, Colorado. A docent at the Denver Art Museum, she shared her passion for African art as she led tours of the museum’s African and Oceanic departments in the 1970’s. Anne completed her Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts at Metro State College in Denver in 1987. In her career, she worked for Lehrer’s Flowers in Denver followed by over a decade at Room & Board home furnishings in Cherry Creek as a Design Associate. With her deep faith in the Episcopal Church, Anne taught Sunday School and participated on the Vestry at the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Denver. In 2013, she moved to Seattle, Washington to be closer to her daughter, Joy. Anne is survived by son Dean Del Calzo and grandsons Enzo and Rocco of Denver; daughter Joy Del Calzo (Sue) of Seattle; sister Mary Gardinier of Centennial; and former husband Nick Del Calzo of Greenwood Village. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Denver Botanic Gardens on December 5, 2016 at noon.
