Ollie Daniel Fowler, Jr., 94, of Candler, North Carolina, passed away on November 10, 2022.
Ollie was born on September 2, 1928, the second of five children, to Ollie and Louise in Hartselle, Alabama. After graduating from Cotaco High in 1947, he entered the workforce – first in a cotton mill in Alabama before moving to Ohio and working for both GM and Ford. In 1953, Ollie moved to Aiken, South Carolina to work for DuPont at Savannah River Plant, working in several different areas before becoming a Plutonium Separations Specialist. Ollie worked at DuPont for 34 years until he retired in 1987.
In 1972, Ollie met and married Gladys; they enjoyed more than 50 years of married life together. Ollie was endlessly proud of, and dedicated to, his family. He devoted his life to his church, serving in countless roles, including mission trips to Estonia and Honduras.
Ollie was predeceased by his mother and father, his first wife, Willie Ruth, and siblings, Mildred, Wilda and Ray. He is survived by his loving family, wife, Gladys, all of his children, Ron (Varenda), Gregg, Mike (Renée), Kim (Kevin), and Kelli (Ed), his grandchildren, Bryan, Nick, Brooke, and Alex, his great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Greyson, and his brother, Joe.
