Phyllis Barrows

Phyllis W. Barrows (Beetz)

Phyllis BarrowsPhyllis was born in San Francisco on Feb 02, 1928, the middle daughter of Frederick and Gertrude Beetz (Lansing), and grew up in the Sunset District with her loving sisters Barbara (Paulsen) and Gloria (Spratling).

Phyllis graduated from Lincoln High school in 1946 and received an AA in Business Administration from San Francisco City College.

Phyllis married Jackson Barrows in 1951 and they were married for 50 years until his passing, Christmas 2001.

Mother of 4 children and their families: Philip and Cami Barrows, Jeanette and Ray Motzer, John and Eva Barrows, Carolyn and Fred Carrillo.

And loving Grandmother of 5: Virginia Barrows, Benjamin and Audrey Motzer, Caius and Devon Anthony.

Phyllis and Jack moved from San Francisco to Pacifica in 1956 and lived and raised their family there for 43 years.  Phyllis was a PEO Sister for many years and volunteered with several organizations, most notably for the American Heart Association, receiving an award for raising donations in the city of Pacifica.

Phyllis was very close with her sisters and was fortunate to have and keep some very special friends, some since kindergarten.

Phyllis will be remembered for her beautiful smile, sense of humor, kindness to humans and all creatures alike, and for always appreciating the little things in life.  Remarkably this was her nature even throughout her 15 year journey with Alzheimer’s disease.

Phyllis passed away Sept 02, 2015 at the age of 87 at the home of her daughter Jeanette and son-in-law Ray in Somerset, CA, surrounded by trees, flowers, her devoted grand-dog Chester and lots of love. Ray dedicated himself full-time to Phyllis’ care the last 1 ½ years of her life.  No one could hope for a more devoted caregiver and loving son-in-law.

Her life will be celebrated in the spring at Jeanette and Ray’s home in Somerset.
