Sandra Jackson

Sandra (Sandy) Kay Horne Jackson stepped into Heaven on December 26, 2020, surrounded by her family.  She was born March 19, 1957, in Memphis, TN, raised by her grandmother, Lena Horne, and resided in Olive Branch, MS for the past 20 years.

Sandy was a beloved mother, fierce protector of her children and grandchildren, and a loyal friend.  She put her children and her friends first, which was evident in everything she did. She showed her exuberance for her family and friends at every sporting event she attended!

Sandy loved the Lord and was very active in the church.  First and always a member of Southland Baptist Church, she volunteered in several capacities:  Sunday school teacher, rocking babies in the nursery, assisting with youth activities, singing in the choir, and cooking & baking.  Any time the doors were open, she was there.  She also played on the church softball team, which brought a lot of joy and laughs.  Later, she became a member of DeSoto Hills Baptist Church and continued to be a faithful servant there.

The majority of her career was spent in the insurance industry, managing several insurance offices and achieving top-seller awards.  Sandy adored dancing and singing, and she could out-shop everyone else we know.  Her wit was quick and one-of-a-kind.  Sandy’s love for others was shown with gifts of food, hospital visits, and any other kind act she could offer.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Jackson Prachniak (Stanley William) and Lesley Jackson Smith (John David); her four grandchildren, Stella & Tristan Prachniak and Noah & Sadie Marie Smith; her best friend & sister Susan Jones and her children & grandchildren; her best friend Karen Bauer; her step-sisters Sharon Graddy, Joanne Gutowsky, Judy Mason, and Margie Burrough; and many nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother Lena Horne, her surrogate parents Boyd & Evelyn Taylor, her stepmother Margaret Horne, her aunt Dorothy Mock, and her half-brothers Bubba & Ricky Horne.
