Dr. Ling Li is an American Board-Certified Forensic Pathologist with specialty in forensic pediatrics in the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), state of Maryland. She has conducted more than 10,000 forensic autopsies and has qualified numerous times as a forensic expert, testifying in the state and federal courts of the United States. Dr. Li is also a professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins Medical School. She has taught forensic pathology to medical students, pathology residents, forensic fellows, pathology assistants, and forensic master students. She is a fellow of the National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) and the Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS). She is the President of Harvard Associates in Police Sciences, Inc. Her research experience has been focusing on investigation of sudden infant and adult deaths, pediatric head trauma, Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP), trends and pattern of drug abuse deaths in Maryland, and Deaths due to Motor Vehicle Crashes. She has authored and co-authored more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles and 3 book chapters. She is the Editor of “Forensic Medicine-an English textbook for medical students, law students and forensic experts.” Dr. Li serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Forensic Research and Injury Epidemiology. She is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine. In addition, Dr. Li has been the co-investigator of the NIH funded University of Maryland Brain and Tissue Bank for Developmental Disorders for more than 30 years.
