Marina Ryan

Marina Ryan, 85, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 25, 2024, following a 15-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1938, Marina was the daughter of the late Alberto and Maria (Ferrari) Beccarelli. She came to the United States in 1961 as a nanny with the intention of only staying one year, but after meeting & falling in love with John “Jack” Ryan, those plans changed, and a beautiful marriage soon followed on February 24,1962 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Poughkeepsie.

Marina and Jack shared 62 amazing years of marriage as well as a successful business partnership operating JMR Custom Homes, Inc. in LaGrange. She was a parishioner at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Lagrangeville and was very proud to become a Naturalized U.S. Citizen. Marina was happiest spending time with family, friends and her dogs. She also enjoyed walking, boating with Jack, and entertaining. She was known as the pretty lady with a Scottish accent and a kind heart. She welcomed neighbors with freshly baked shortbread and was always quick to send a heartfelt card to others.

Marina is survived by her loving husband, Jack Ryan, who remains at home. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, John and Loretta Ryan of Lagrangeville, Christopher and Kari Ryan of Lagrangeville, and Kimberly and Todd Wickes of Poughquag, and her grandchildren, Alanna Ryan, Jake Ryan, Camryn Wickes, Max Ryan, and Nicholas Ryan.

In addition to her parents, Marina was also predeceased by her brothers, John Beccarelli in 1978 and Luigi Beccarelli in 2024.

Special thanks to the staff at Hudson Valley Hospice and Unlimited Care home health aides; Virginia, Deone, Grace & Sue.
