Lifetime Payments That Make a Difference
You can help us fund critical research while receiving lifetime payments from your gift.
Charitable Gift Annuities
A charitable gift annuity (CGA) offers a meaningful way to support CureAlz while providing you, or a loved one, with fixed, reliable payments for life. With a minimum gift of $20,000, and for donors age 50 and older (payments can begin at 60), your rate is determined by your age following American Council on Gift Annuities guidelines. You may also receive valuable tax benefits, including a possible charitable deduction and partially tax-free payments for a period of time.
You can choose to begin payments right away, or defer them to a future date, even selecting a flexible range of start times. The longer you wait, the higher your potential payout. Once payments begin, they are guaranteed for life. After the annuity term, any remaining funds help advance critical Alzheimer’s research.
We would be happy to provide a personalized illustration and discuss options for giving, including cash, appreciated assets, or IRA funds. Please contact the Planned Giving team at [email protected] or (781) 943-3785.
Benefits to You
- Lifetime payments that will never change.
- Capital gains tax savings when you fund your CGA using appreciated stock.
- You are eligible for an immediate charitable income tax deduction.
- Your gift passes to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund outside of the estate process.
- You create your legacy of supporting the world’s leading scientists researching Alzheimer’s disease so that together we can find a cure.
Charitable Trusts
Charitable Remainder Trust
A Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) lets you turn assets into income while supporting CureAlz. You place assets into the trust, and it pays you (or someone you choose) income for life or for a set of years. Payments can be either fixed (annuity trust) or variable (unitrust). When the trust ends, the remaining funds go to support CureAlz.
Benefits to You
A CRT provides income now, potential tax advantages, and a lasting gift to advance Alzheimer’s research.
- You receive income for life for you or your heirs.
- You may receive a charitable income tax credit for the charitable portion of the trust.
- Contributing appreciated assets to a CRT can allow assets to be sold by the trust without triggering immediate capital gains tax.
- Full reinvestment of trust proceeds can enhance long-term growth potential, while any tax liability is recognized over time through your trust distributions.
Charitable Lead Trust
A Charitable Lead Trust (CLT) allows you to support CureAlz now while passing assets to your loved ones in the future. With a CLT, the trust makes payments to CureAlz for a set of years. These payments can be fixed (annuity trust) or vary over time (unitrust).
Benefits to You
A CLT helps you make an immediate impact on Alzheimer’s research while providing for your beneficiaries in the future.
- Depending on the structure of your trust, you may be able to reduce gift, estate, or other transfer taxes.
- Assets held within the trust can continue to appreciate, potentially without triggering immediate taxes on that growth.
- You can often tailor the trust payment amount and term to help maximize benefits for your beneficiaries.
- Make a significant investment in promising Alzheimer’s research now, while helping preserve your assets for the people and causes you care about in the future.
We would be happy to provide you with a personalized charitable trust illustration. The minimum funding amount for a Charitable Trust is $500,000. While donating real estate is the most common way to fund a charitable trust, a wide variety of assets can be used, including cash, appreciated publicly traded or closely held stock, as well as oil, gas or mineral interests.
