Run-a-Thon at Crossfit Balance featuring Brandon Petelin vs. Woodway Curve

What initially started off as a joke, has turned into an attempt by me to run 100 miles in 24 hours on the Woodway Curve, an unmotorized, manual treadmill (http://www.woodway.com/products/curve).

When?

I will do this from June 4 starting at 6:30 am until June 5 at 6:30 am. (Yes, I will be able to get off to go to the bathroom, eat, etc.. It’s just max distance in 24hrs).

Fundraising Goal

To make this effort more worthwhile, I am hoping to raise for charity at least 1 dollar for every minute of the 24 hours I will be suffering on the Woodway. This amounts to $1,440. Please help me in reaching this goal. After seriously contemplating the cause(s) I should do the run for, I needed something to motivate me to actually get through this awful task. So one of the causes I’ve decided to support is Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.

Why?

Alzheimer’s is one of those diseases that seems to impact everyone in one way or another. It’s affected my family as well as those of my best friends. While there are a number of diseases that could fit the bill here, Alzheimer’s is one of those for which a cure always seems to be just around the corner, and making strides towards a cure will have a massive impact on society and will potentially help eliminate one of the most depressing, and scary, diseases I can think of. After searching charities with a strong track record for contributing to research in this field, the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund seemed like the best choice.

So that’s the story. If you have any questions about the details of the 24 hour challenge, or about the charities that will get the money we raise, let me know. I’m happy to answer any questions. Thanks in advance to everyone who will provide support (through both contributions and towards my physical/mental well-being) before, during, and after (in trying to recover) this absolute suffer-fest I will be experiencing from June 4-5.
