Barbara M. Panzarino’s soul was set free on April 1, 2023 with family by her side. She had been a resident of Yorktown Heights since 1984.
Barbara was born in the Bronx on March 26, 1935 to Angelo and Grace Patrissi. After her 3 children were all in school, Barbara utilized her associate’s degree and went to work at P.S. 205 in the Bronx as a paraprofessional. During this time Barbara also took night courses at Lehman College and went on to earn her Masters degree in Early Childhood Education. She became a beloved kindergarten teacher & remained at P.S. 205 for over 20 years until retiring in 1998.
On June 23, 1984 Barbara married Vincent Panzarino. They loved to go out with friends, dance, and travel, and they took many wonderful trips together. Barbara also loved to cook and entertain and she hosted large family gatherings for decades; most notably, Christmas Eve. Vinny, her husband of 31 years, passed away in 2015.
Barbara was renowned for her fun-loving spirit, vitality, and passion for shopping. She had countless ‘stunning’ outfits and a different pair of shoes for each one! Barbara was also known for her vibrant hair color which earned her the nickname ‘Blazing’.
Barbara is survived by her loving children: Michael Colucco (Debby), Cynthia O’Toole (Dennis), Angela Rem (Kevin), and step-daughter Gina Panzarino; as well as her pride and joy grandchildren: Allyson, Dannielle, Caroline, Nicole, Nicholas, and Melina. Barbara is also survived by her brother Robert Patrissi (Alexis); she was predeceased by her brother Peter Patrissi (Susan). Barbara is also survived by many neices, nephews, cousins and good friends who truly loved her.
Family and friends will honor the life of Barbara on Monday April 10 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at Yorktown Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Tuesday at 11am at St. Patrick’s Church. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
