Elaine M. Quint

Elaine M. Quint, age 80, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her adoring husband and family, on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Bellamy Fields Assisted Living Facility in Dover, NH.  She was born May 27, 1938, in Waterbury, CT, the only child to Adrian and Margaret (Oliver) Maiato. She was a 1956 graduate of Sacred Heart High School.  Elaine married Jack Quint, the love of her life, on September 26, 1959, and enjoyed almost sixty years of what she called “a marriage made in heaven.” She and Jack started their family in Naugatuck, later moving to Thomaston, where they lived 27 years before moving to Florida when Jack retired.  Most recently, she and Jack have lived in Kennebunk, ME.

Elaine was a godly, strong and faithful woman of integrity.  A devoted, selfless wife and mother, family was always the single most important aspect of her life.  She was a wonderful listener and counselor to her children, instilling in them so many of life’s most important and valuable character traits.  She loved cuddling and nurturing little ones (especially her own grandchildren and great-grandchildren), reading, cooking, interior decorating, relaxing at the beach, doing crossword puzzles, and laughter, which was always “good medicine.” She gave the best hugs.  Elaine took great pride in, and had such a knack for making her house a “home.”  She sang in the choir at church and spent many years ministering to the needs of others, as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.

Elaine is survived by Jack, her “rock” and husband of 59 years; five children; Jay (Kim) Quint, David (Karen) Quint, Laurie (Eric) Slifka, Tim (Samantha) Quint, and Kate Quint; twelve grandchildren; Johnny Quint, Alex (Elyse) Quint, Emily Quint, Matthew (Kayla) Quint, Elizabeth (Matthew) Matoin, Sarah Quint, Katherine Quint, Daniel Quint, Max Slifka, Claudia Slifka, Colby Slifka, and Elaine “Lainey” Quint; three great-grandsons: Cooper, Griffin and Oliver; and many nieces and nephews, and their children.
