Margaret Armstrong

Margaret “Margie” Mary Knapp Armstrong went to be with our Lord Jesus on May 25, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A lifelong devoted, Roman Catholic, she served her Lord, church, family, and community all her life. She was born on 12 September 1935 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Raymond and Agnes Knapp. Margaret attended Catholic school until graduating from St Mary’s Academy in Milwaukee. She volunteered in her late teens in the USO during the Korean Conflict. It was there that she met the love of her life, Richard Nelson Armstrong. They were married in Milwaukee on June 4, 1955. Born during the hard years of the Depression, Margie became a thrifty homemaker, often making her children’s clothes and Halloween costumes. She played the church organ, co-directed youth groups, and worked as a psychiatric RN. The couple had four children spending their years mostly in Huntsville AL, Enterprise, AL, and finally Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Margie loved the beach, trapping blue crabs and cooking them for her husband, kids, and grandchildren. Most of all, she loved taking long walks on the beach with her sweetheart, “Dick.” She had an artistic talent and playful spirit enjoying squirt gun fights and “crazy” card games with her kids and future son-in-law. She is missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” in 2020, brother Raymond Knapp Jr (Mary) and sister, Shirley Greulich(Richard).

She leaves behind sister Elizabeth Kuhr(John “Jack”); children: Margaret Cevasco (Michael ), Richard Armstrong ( Matthew), Deborah Potter, and Michael Armstrong; grandchildren: Heather Cassandra, Shawn, Sonya, Sara, Samantha, Christopher, Cierra, and Caleb; great-grandchildren: AJ, Cade, Khai, Loralei, Micah, Tasman, Mireille, Haley, Grayanna, Cypress, Colton, Landon, Raylynn, Arianna, Deklin, Dalton, and Nickolas.
