Mary Alice LaManche

Mary Alice LaManche, 89, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 19, just a short time after her beloved daughter, Teresa Sullivan, passed away. Their closely timed passing reflects the profound and inseparable bond they shared.

Born in Syracuse, Mary Alice lived in Marcellus until moving to the Howlett Hill area in 1956 and was a proud alumna of Marcellus High School and Powelson Business Institute. Her career spanned a decade of service at Marcellus Central School District before she found her home at Onondaga Community College for 13 years. Mary Alice was an active communicant of the Church of St. Michael & St. Peter and a member of their Altar & Rosary Society.  Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family, cherishing every moment.

Mary Alice was predeceased by her husband, John, in 2017; son, John J., in 2002; daughter, Teresa Sullivan, son-in-law, Joseph Fletcher, and brother, Carl MacDonald.

Surviving are her daughters, Mary Pat Fletcher, Martha (Greg) Sniffen, and Anne (Kevin) DeLand, all of Howlett Hill; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Gloria Weeks of Marcellus; brothers, Bernard MacDonald of Florida, and Leonard MacDonald of Marcellus; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Alice’s family would like to express their gratitude to her caregivers for the incredible kindness and compassion they showed her for the past eight years.

To honor Mary Alice and Teresa’s lives, a funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in The Church of St. Michael & St. Peter, 4781 W. Seneca Tpke., Syracuse.

Mary will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus at a later date.
