Phillip J. Fried of Lake Forest, IL, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2022. Before relocating with his wife Barbara Fried to Illinois to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, Phillip and his wife lived in Omaha for more than 40 years. He spent most of his career until retirement working as a Claims Supervisor for AAA. Phillip was a lover of horses and enjoyed spending his free time with friends and family at racetracks, where he raced several racehorses of his own. He was also an avid volunteer and gave much of his time and energy to various charitable causes. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; their daughter, Shana, their son-in-law, John, and two grandsons, Andrew and Keith. He is also survived by siblings: Geoff (Dixie), Sandy (Russel), Terry (Barbara), Harold, Jr. (“Skip”) and Kelly (Marcia); as well as several nieces, nephews, and many friends, all of whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Deanna.
Phillip’s many friends and family members in Omaha will be invited to a Celebration of His Life in Spring of 2023. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Phillip’s name to the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund. The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to Charter Senior Living in Vernon Hills, IL and Star Hospice for their loving and caring support through this journey.
