William John Kubicki

William (“Bill”) John Kubicki passed away at home in Portland, Oregon, on September 27, 2020, with his family by his side.

Bill was born on January 10, 1938, in the Polish-American community of Webster, Massachusetts. As a young boy, he attended Polish school at St. Joseph’s Basilica. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts, in 1955 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Lowell Technical Institute in 1960. At Lowell Tech, Bill was in the ROTC program and was a member of the Delta Kappa Phi fraternity. He then pursued graduate studies at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Work brought him to the west coast, where he was an engineer in the communications industry in the California Bay Area for many years. In 1986, he married the love of his life, Priscilla, and became the best stepfather ever to her teenage daughter, Robin.

He later moved to Portland, Oregon, to retire near his grandchildren. In retirement, Bill enjoyed woodworking, and his workshop was the center of activity for his grandchildren and their friends. This included the Sunset High School Makerspace Club, whose members made the chariot that parades at home football games in Bill’s workshop under his tutelage. When not in his shop, Bill could be found cheering for his grandchildren at high school baseball games and band competitions. He never missed a game or performance, regardless of the weather or distance.

Bill is survived by his wife, Priscilla; stepdaughter, Robin McIntyre, and her husband, Michael McIntyre; grandchildren, Robert and Natalie McIntyre; and sister, Patricia Gover of Boston Massachusetts.
