Brigitte Guérin, Ph.D.

Full Professor, Université de Sherbrooke, Canada

Brigitte Guérin, Ph.D., holds the Jeanne and J.-Louis Lévesque Chair in Radiobiology. She is Full Professor at the Université de Sherbrooke (UdeS) and Head of the Radiochemistry Laboratory of the Sherbrooke Molecular Imaging Centre (CIMS) of the Research Center of the University Hospital (CRCHUS). She currently serves as the Director of the Center of Excellence in Medical Imaging of the UdeS, the Director of the Medical Imaging Axis of the CRCHUS, and Head of the Radiochemistry laboratory of the CIMS. Her research paves the way for personalized medicine and on-target cancer treatments. She collaborates with a wide network of national and international investigators to develop novel radiotracers. The collaborative projects involve the use of PET tracers and imaging in fields as varied as cancer, fatty acid metabolism in the brain, diabetes, cardiac function assessment, inflammation, and neurodegenerative disease. These studies cover the entire scientific spectrum, from basic radiochemistry through clinical trials. Of the more than thirty radiotracers that are currently at various stages of development at the CIMS, fifteen radiopharmaceuticals are under clinical trial applications with Health Canada to test their diagnostic efficacy.
