Associate Professor, University of Gothenburg, Sweden
Dr. Jörg Hanrieder is an Associate Professor of Neurobiology and a Group Leader in Analytical Neurochemistry at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. He earned his master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Leipzig, Germany, and subsequently completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Uppsala University, Sweden. In addition to his pivotal role in the Department of Psychiatry and Neurochemistry, Dr. Hanrieder is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease, Queen Square Institute of Neurology, University College London, England.
The Hanrieder group specializes in developing and advancing molecular imaging techniques based on mass spectrometry, functional microscopy, and chemical nanoscopy for probing chemical plaque pathology in brain tissue and cell models. The major goal is to use these techniques for delineating molecular mechanisms of abnormal protein oligomerization and aggregation underlying Alzheimer’s disease pathology.
