Mo Ebrahimkhani, M.D.

Associate Professor, University of Pittsburgh

Dr. Mo Ebrahimkhani is an Associate Professor of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh, where he leads the Laboratory for Synthetic Morphogenetics and Tissue Ecology. He completed his postdoctoral training in Biological Engineering at MIT. His lab develops and combines human stem cell models of embryogenesis and organoids with synthetic biology. His approach aims to unravel the intricacies of human development and organ formation, focusing on early post-implantation events, the hematopoietic niches, and the liver. Moreover, his lab seeks to engineer technologies that can guide morphogenesis and advance regenerative therapies.

Dr. Ebrahimkhani has received several research awards, including the Mayo Clinic Accelerated Regenerative Medicine Award, EASL Sheila Sherlock Fellowship Award, NSF Recode Program Award, NIH R01s, University of Pittsburgh 2024 Ascending Star award, and the Charles E Kaufman Foundation Initiative Award.
