Rati Chkheidze, M.D.

Dr. Rati Chkheidze is a board-certified neuropathologist and Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He directs the Neuropathology Fellowship Program and serves as Medical Director of Digital Pathology and the Clinical Immunohistochemistry Laboratory. He leads the Neuropathology Core and Brain Bank for the UAB Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC), where his research focuses on Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease–related dementias (AD/ADRD), brain banking, and the development of high-quality control and disease tissue resources for translational research. His program integrates rapid autopsy, comprehensive neuropathologic characterization, and digital pathology infrastructure to accelerate data sharing and support multi-institutional research collaborations.
