Turkey Scamper

On Thanksgiving Eve, the inaugural Turkey Scamper brought our community together in a heartwarming and impactful way. Designed as a low-key “fun”-raiser, the event featured a 5K walk/run followed by a festive gathering at the finish line.

What started as a simple idea quickly gained momentum thanks to countless volunteers’ enthusiasm and dedication of countless volunteers who planned every detail, from registration and donations to the 5K route, end-of-event festivities, prizes, and shirts. The result was an unforgettable evening filled with camaraderie and purpose.

Participants enjoyed a lively post-run celebration with firepits, games, popcorn, hot dogs, music, and themed prizes. To keep the event lighthearted, there were no official race times. Instead, finishers shared photos and received whimsical “Camelot” prizes like plastic swords and dragon stuffed animals.

The Turkey Scamper raised funds for Alzheimer’s research, a cause deeply personal to the Riedel family. Events like this help raise awareness of the need for a cure, ensuring that no one has to endure the profound impact of Alzheimer’s in the future.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and donated. We can’t wait to see everyone next year. To visit the Turkey Scamper website click here. Follow them on Facebook.
