Binh Vinh passed away peacefully in the morning of August 30,2026 at the age of 80.
Binh was born October 23,1945, in the ancient capital city of Hue, Vietnam, the eldest son of Buu Tri and Nguyen Huu Thi Chinh (aka Kim Quy).
He received a Master of Architecture Urban Planning from Saigon Architecture University. He then joined the army during the war in Vietnam. After training at Dong De military academy, he was commissioned as lieutenant and served in Pleiku. He married Hang Nguyen, and not long afterwards he and his young wife emigrated to the US in 1975 after the fall of Saigon. They settled in Pennsylvania and welcomed the birth of their son Michael Vinh. Binh earned his Master of Architect from the University of Pennsylvania then joined Kling Lindquist Partnership, eventually becoming Partner and Principal of Design. His work spanned many continents and included the Glaxo Medicines Research Centre in Stevenage, United Kingdom. The project received major professional design awards and was recognized by Queen Elizabeth II when she officially opened the campus in 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buu Tri and Nguyen Huu Thi Chinh. He is survived by his son, Michael Vinh and his wife Michele; granddaughter Mia Vinh; Hang Nguyen, mother of Michael; and siblings Buu Vinh and his wife Tena, Charles Vinh, Thanh Utsurogi and her husband Kent, and Kim Reetz.
