Margaret “Peggy” Ostrander, 89, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. She was born on March 2, 1937, to Robert Ramage and Statia Brill.
Peggy shared 65 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Charles Ostrander. Together they built a life centered on love, family, service and adventure. After starting out in Rochester, New York, Peggy and Charlie made their home in Averill Park, New York, while also enjoying many happy winters in Lakeland, Florida.
Peggy was the devoted mother of Robert (Lois) Ostrander, Rick Ostrander, and Kathy (Matt) Lindemann. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Bryant Ostrander, Kyle (Gabby) Ostrander, Conner (Kelsey) Ostrander, Nikhil Ostrander, Vikram Ostrander, Megan Lindemann, Stevie Lindemann, and Julia Lindemann, and cherished every moment with her great-granddaughter, Macy Ostrander. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Gael Morey, Gerry (Joni) Ramage, and Bill (Gwyn) Ramage.
Peggy graduated from Simmons College and began her career as a home economics teacher in Rochester, New York. She later founded PRO Sewing. Service to others was one of Peggy’s greatest gifts. She taught generations of children to swim as a water safety instructor, served as a 4-H leader and on the Rensselaer County Cooperative Extension Board of Directors, volunteered with Rensselaer County sexual assault and crime victims’ services, and with The Eddy Alzheimer’s Care Team.
An accomplished athlete well into her 80s, she completed numerous triathlons and earned more than 85 medals in the Polk County Senior Games. She loved traveling and remained a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.
Above all, Peggy’s greatest joy was her family. Her generosity, strength, and joyful spirit touched countless lives.
