Gurbakhsh Singh

Dr. Gurbakhsh Singh (September 15, 1927 – August 19, 2021) was born in Gill village near Ludhiana, Punjab, India to a farming family.  From those humble beginnings, he eventually attained a Ph.D. in Agronomy from Ohio State University, whereupon he helped lead Punjab Agricultural University, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and the Indian Farmers’ Fertilizer Cooperative to tremendous success and materially increased the food security of Punjab and India at large.  After his retirement, as a founding member of the Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, he promoted education and Sikhi to India and the world by writing essays and books and traveling extensively to set up schools and camps.  He passed with his family by his side and with paat in his ears.
