Jacob Perry Vinton passed away on November 12, 2016, after a courageous battle with early onset Alzheimer’s Dementia. Even as the disease ravaged his body, his happy joyful spirit always found a way to shine through.
Jake was easygoing and laughed a lot. He enjoyed life to its fullest and learned not to get caught up in petty details. Everyone knew he gave the best hugs in the world, whether you wanted them or not. He was loyal and kind and giving of himself. Going on a walk with one of his best friends, our adopted golden doodle Zizou, was always a time-consuming adventure because Jake stopped to talk to every child, and pet every dog and cat that crossed his path. In sum, Jake embraced life, and those of us who knew him were better for sharing that embrace.
Jake was an engineer who graduated from Trinity College. A natural athlete, he was often out on the roads biking long distances, or lacing up his running shoes. After he retired, he became a regular member at Hamilton House in Providence, where he enjoyed the company of many friends and was well-fed.
Jake is survived by his adoring wife Karen, who fought the hard fight by his side. He also leaves behind his father Drury and mother Ruth, two sons, four brothers and sisters-in-law; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews…and more friends than we can count.
A celebration of Jake’s life will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Central Congregational Church (http://www.centralchurch.us/) at 296 Angell St. in Providence Rhode Island, followed by a reception.

This disease took Jake away from us well before his final passing. He will be greatly missed. We thank all of you for your enduring love and support.
