December 11, 1939 – November 14, 2023
Margaret was born in Toppenish, Washington to J.L. and Stella Summa. Most of her formative years were spent in Ellensburg, Washington where she graduated from Ellensburg High School in 1958. Even though she left shortly after graduation, she always spoke of her love for Ellensburg. Margaret loved adventures leading her to live in many places and explore different life experiences. While in Washington, she worked as a Dental Assistant, Court Reporter and Sunday School Teacher; in California, she did sign language interpretative dance to share her love of music with the deaf and in Hawaii, she was a co-owner of a mortgage company. Margaret lived in Hawaii for more than 20 years, moving back to Yakima, Washington in 2000 to be near her family whom she dearly missed. In 2017, Margaret moved into Fieldstone Orchardwest where she met her boyfriend, Coy Huskey. Both Margaret and Coy shared a love of dancing and often would make the rounds between the American Legion, Eagles and VFW. They never missed the opportunity to dance at a function and had quite the moves! Margaret has been described as a lovely, petite, force of nature, which captures her essence perfectly. She was a tiny dynamo of a woman and lived and loved passionately. Margaret was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her children were her greatest joy and source of pride. She is survived by children, Brian (Carla) Hurst and Megan (Rob) Calhoon; grandchildren, Hannah, Hailey, Emily, Alyssa, Chloe, Austin, Jordan, Taylor and Sydney; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Nancy and Tara Summa.
