National Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease

Posted February 13, 2013

Cure Alzheimer’s Fund is grateful to President Obama for the Administration’s continued commitment to curing Alzheimer’s disease. With the implementation of the first ever National Plan To End Alzheimer’s Disease, to which Cure Alzheimer’s Fund was a contributor, and his specific targeting of the disease last night in the State of the Union address, President Obama has highlighted a national resolve to defeat this disease.

Cure Alzheimer’s Fund has been at the forefront of gene sequencing starting with our Alzheimer’s Genome Project and continuing with our Whole Genome Sequencing initiative announced last fall. These efforts are driving our Roadmap to a cure, anticipating and aligned with the National Institutes of Health’s priorities for Alzheimer’s research. Cure Alzheimer’s Fund is excited that President Obama highlighted specifically the value of gene sequencing in curing Alzheimer’s disease and looks forward to continuing our work with the Obama Administration, Congress, and other private organizations to determining the cause of Alzheimer’s disease and using this valuable information to finding a cure.
