For the past eight years, the Nagengast family has hosted a garage sale in memory of Jennie’s mom, Kathy Locherer. Beloved mother and grandmother and avid garage sale enthusiast, Kathy’s spirit lives on through this annual fundraiser. Jennie Nagengast, a teacher at JFK Elementary School in East Islip, rallies the community each spring to donate items for the sale.
With the help of her sister, Bridget, the family transforms their garage into a treasure trove. The day of the sale is a family affair filled with music and memories. All proceeds benefit the Cure Alzheimer’s Fund.
