Marilyn June Reimer, a former long-time resident of Elgin, died in Madison, WI, of natural causes on October 27, 2018. She was 91 years old. Mrs. Reimer was born in Carpentersville, IL, the daughter of Walter and Alma (Wendt) Schumacher on June 14, 1927.
Mrs. Reimer was a graduate of Dundee High School Class of 1945. She married her late husband, William C. Reimer shortly after he completed his military service in 1947. She was employed for many years at Sherman Hospital in Elgin as Director of Admitting and subsequently at Delnor Hospital in St. Charles until 1993 when she retired.
Mrs. Reimer and her late husband were long-time members of Zion Christian Church (formerly Zion United Church of Christ) in Carpentersville, IL, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She was an active volunteer in the Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was an avid card player and maintained long-term friendships with many in the Elgin area. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and positive outlook on life.
This devoted wife survived her husband of 65 years, William, who died in 2013. She is survived by their five children: Thomas (Beth) Reimer of Pingree Grove, IL, Linda (Robert) Brisotti of Venice, FL, Nancy (Richard) John of New York City, Mary Beth Ireland (Kevin, deceased) of Madison, WI, and David (Christy) Ryan of Clearwater, FL. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Amy (Aaron) Ullom, Neil (Kaitlyn) Reimer, James Brisotti, Rodda and Emery John, Matthew, Molly, and Harrison Ireland, and Michael Ryan, and four great-grandchildren: Jace and Jack Ullom and Carolyn and William Reimer.
