Xu Chen, Ph.D.

Associate Professor, University of California, San Diego


Dr. Chen received her Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin-Madison, majoring in Neurogenetics. After graduate school, she decided to pursue a research career in Alzheimer’s disease, and completed her postdoctoral training at the Gladstone Institutes, University of California, San Francisco. She then joined as a faculty member in the Department of Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Chen has received the Awards for Excellence in Alzheimer’s Research from the Alzheimer’s Association, NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00), and the Stephen I. Katz Early-Stage Investigator Research Project Grant from the National Institute on Aging. Her lab uses interdisciplinary approaches to understand neurodegenerative diseases from unique perspectives, and to uncover new therapeutic avenues.
