NOT YET – An Alzheimer’s Story

Imagine that you don’t remember where you were.
Or, where you are.
That you see people but do not recognize their faces.
They talk to you, but you don’t know why.
They want you to know them. They prompt you with messages. And memories. And things they believe
will make you happy.
The voices – the sounds – the images – nothing is familiar.
These people try to hug you. Sometimes you wince. Other times you succumb. Because it is easier.
Imagine a place where you do not know anyone.
Because you don’t remember anyone.
You are lonely. Confused. Sad.
You don’t connect with others. You no longer give hugs.
No more hugs.
