Mila Maring-Sims and Kelley Sims are married musicians from Alto Pass, Illinois. The are also longtime bastions of the Southern Illinois bluegrass community. In 2012, Kelly starting showing signs of cognitive difficulties and in 2014 he was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 56.

For years, the couple had been wanting to record a compilation of “kitchen table tunes” – original and traditional songs played with friends in an informal atmosphere. As Sims’ illness worsened and his playing abilities began to diminish, they began their project. The result is an album titled LEVEL BEST.
