Cure Alzheimer’s Fund Research Consortium member David Holtzman’s latest paper has been published in the Journal of Neuroscience, addressing how Alzheimer’s plaques affect brain networks.

Up until now, animals have played a role in research considering structural brain damage and brain cell activity analysis. However, this new study identifies critical parallels between human Alzheimer’s and a mouse model.

The study’s findings not only are advantageous for Alzheimer’s disease, but also for other disease research. According to Holtzman, “Precise measurement of changes in brain networks are critical to understanding Alzheimer’s and will likely be important in models of other neurodegenerative disorders.”
