CureAlz Heroes: Ready, Set, Stream

Posted August 25, 2026

A.Ron Hubbard and Jim Jones, also known as the podcast duo Bald Move, have turned one of the nation’s most underrated holidays into a powerful force for good by asking one simple question:

“What if we watched the movie ‘Groundhog Day’ on loop for 24 hours on Groundhog Day?”

For their first Groundhog Day Movie Marathon, A.Ron and Jim watched the Bill Murray classic on repeat, livestreaming their reactions and ever-growing sleep-deprived delirium as they raised money for charity.

This is an example of streaming fundraising, where all you need to do is turn on a camera, pick something ordinary (or even ridiculous), potentially do it for way too long, and let your community fund it dollar by dollar in real time as they watch. A.Ron and Jim watch movies, but it could be gaming, cooking, crafting, or anything else you can dream up.

Cure Alzheimer’s Fund is proud to be the beneficiary of many streaming events each year. These creators are part of our community of Heroes, who use their passions, interests, and talents to spread the word and raise important funds for Alzheimer’s research.

Since 2020, A.Ron and Jim have donated the proceeds from their event to Cure Alzheimer’s Fund in honor of A.Ron’s aunt and grandfather, who were diagnosed with the disease. They have raised more than $200,000 since then.

The event has become a beloved tradition in the Bald Move community. Every Groundhog Day, A.Ron and Jim select a new franchise or theme, from “James Bond” to “Lord of the Rings,” and invite thousands of fans to tune in for games, challenges, and prizes while they watch movies for 24 hours.

Bald Move’s most recent fundraiser was in February 2026
and raised more than $60,000.

For A.Ron, Jim, and millions around the world, streaming is more than entertainment: it is a way to connect, build community, and share experiences.

Hero Tip: If you can’t find us under “Cure Alzheimer’s Fund,” try searching our legal name, “Alzheimer’s Disease Research Foundation.” Look for the red arrow to make sure you have the right organization.

If gaming or streaming is your passion, consider putting it to work toward a cure for Alzheimer’s. Your next livestream could help power the research that brings us closer to ending this disease.
